WAR ON TERROR Row rumbles on over size Afghan talks delay lift-off by UK troops of peacekeeping force 17

SENIOR British military advisors last night flew into Afghanistan for urgent talks with the country's new administration on the deployment of an international peacekeeping force. Tony Blair discussed the planned force with French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder at the European Union summit in Brussels yesterday. Britain's Foreign Office minister Peter Hain was quick to pour scorn on the suggestion, stressing it would be a fully international force. " Although Mr Blair has said Britain was in principle willing to lead the operation, his official spokesman stressed that no decisions had been made on the size and composition of any force and that no announcements were expected over the weekend.
